Can the standalone Lotus Sametime Connect client authenticate via Active Directory? 
We want to use Sametime Connect client and want to have to users login using their Active Directory username/password. Is this possible with the connect client?

Yes - this is a common configuration and is part of core product when configured against a "external directory". Details in InfoCener and install wizard will even walk you through it.
