re: I-Phones on Lotus Traveler Need to change the SSL Option

Author: Janko Stefancic
Answer:
Mail account settings for Lotus Traveler on the iPhone are LOCKED,

because they are automatically set when installing Lotus Traveler profile.

To change the settings connect to the Domino server running Lotus Traveler

and change the file:

<DOMINO_DATA>\traveler\cfg\client\Apple.xml

Further information about the settings can be found in

<DOMINO_DATA>\traveler\cfg\client\AppleTemplate.xml

<!-- Actual values are <true/> or <false/> if not using the ILNT_HostProtocol wildcard. -->

 <key>SSL</key>

 ILNT_HostProtocol

So changing the setting ILNT_HostProtocol to <false/> in Apple.xml shoudl do the trick.

Note: I didn't have to change this setting on our server and we also don't have SSL enabled... so could it be another issue?

re: is there a way to password protect a folder in Lotus notes mailbox so that only the authorised users will have access to that folder..?

Author: Lars Berntrop-Bos
Answer:
If you look at the document properties of a message, you can change who can read this diocument based on username, groupname or role. You can also set encryption. I would not recommend to let users do this by hand but that a mechanism be built to use this functionality. Note that adding reader fields to a database accessed by many can impact performance. Encryption adds the burden of managing keys.

Since some development is already suggested, I woul like to point to the possibility to let an item in the mailbox navigation to point to another database/file, with it's own ACL. I think this makes management easier.

So: evaluate your needs and development effort, and take your pick.

Author: Declan Lynch
Answer:
Emails added to a folder will still be visible in the 'All Documents' view so any form of protection on a folder would be useless.

You can, if you want, create a 'Private Folder' via the create folder dialog box. This folder would only be visible to the person who created it but emails added to a private folder still show in the 'All Documents' view.

Author: Tim Paque
Answer:
It's definitely a bug with Lotus Traveler, however I believe was able to work around it. (So far so good, but not celebrating yet)

The connections left open were to the primary mail servers of the end users listed in the address book.

By changing the primary mail server of the end users to the server Traveler was installed on I was able to work around the issue.

Not ideal, but better than telling the President of the company that he can't use his new iphone anymore.
